Jabra was one of the first companies to realize that the best use cases for Bluetooth headphones is fitness. Not only did their new Sport Pulse headphones sound good, but they were among the first earbuds (if not the first) to have a heart rate monitor built-in. It can be used for all kinds of exercise, but were designed specifically for runners.

The Sport Pulse were secure, comfortable and the in-ear heart rate monitoring proved more accurate than many of its wrist-based counterparts.

The new Sport Pulse Special Edition will now continuously calculate your VO2 Max when used alongside the Jabra Sport Life companion app for Android and iOS. VO2 Max is a way to measure a person’s maximum rate of oxygen consumption.

Essentially, the VO2 Max is a useful gauge of your overall aerobic fitness levels, so it is another metric you can use to track your progress. You will get ongoing coaching and real-time feedback through the Sport Pulse Special Edition’s headphones as you run.

Aside from the new features, improvements have been made to sound-quality for calls and music, along with passive noise cancellation and enhanced bass.

To make sure everyone can find an even better fit, the new earbuds will also now come with Comply foam tips to keep them secured, in addition to the different sized ear gels and ear wings.

The new Sport Pulse Special Edition are IP55-rated for dust and water resistance with up to 5 hours of battery life, and last for up to 10 days in standby mode. The Special Editions are shipping in Q3, with the Sport Pulse priced at $160.
